Precision public health is an approach that targets diverse genetic and environmental characteristics of populations in preventing and treating diseases to help improve healthcare.

The availability and use of precise data is becoming the norm in wealthy countries. However in Sub-Saharan Africa, the data and tools needed to treat patients are not widely available. The highest rates of childhood mortality in the world are located here and it is where we know the least about causes of death.
